University of Dallas
Recognizing that teachers are a vital force in maintaining the strength of our nation, the University of Dallas Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts established the Classical Education Graduate Program as a resource and pathway for teachers and administrators who aspire to gain deeper formation in the Classical tradition and the wisdom to pass on its insights.
Taught by UD faculty who have distinguished themselves through a passion for and commitment to the Classical tradition, courses cover such topics as the history of liberal education, principles of childhood classical education, the Trivium and the philosophy of education. In the moral and intellectual tradition of the West, graduate students engage the Great Books and can opt to study Latin or Greek as they integrate onsite summer courses with online courses during the school year. Teachers can take up to 18 credits in a field of concentration, such as mathematics or fine arts.
Three degree paths are available – M.A., Master’s (omitting a thesis), and the 18 credit-hour Certificate of Classical Learning – as well as an opportunity to participate in a practicum focused on classical pedagogy and aligned with Great Hearts’ mission to cultivate the hearts and minds of students in pursuit of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.
Great Hearts faculty and administrators can earn up to 12 credit hours for their teaching experience and are welcome to apply and enroll in the program at a discounted tuition rate.
